An exciting weekend of music at College of Notre Dame of Maryland, which featured world renowned musicians, culminated with the final round of the international competitions. Featured events included a master Class with Phyllis Bryn Julson, “transcendental performances” presented by author Alan Walker, a gala Recital featuring pianist Ann Schein and Violinist Earl Carlyss, a presentation on “Sibelius 5” by Robin Hodson, a round table discussion on audiences and programming, moderated by Thomas Benjamin, and semifinal and final rounds in three competition categories. A total of eight recitals included the 2006 winners, guest artists, and the final round performances for the 2007 competition categories. The Baltimore-Washington Chapter of the American Liszt Society thanks the support received from College of Notre Dame of Maryland and Dr. Mary Pat Seurkamp, the George Shields Foundation, Mason and Hamlin, Piano Craft, the American Liszt Society, University of Georgia at Athens, the Chalice Concert Series of Columbia, the numerous financial contributors and silent auction donors, and the audience. The chapter wishes to congratulate all the participants in the competition and is proud to announce the winners 2007.
